Read and Discuss
Acts 2:36-39
36 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know with certainty that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”
37 When they heard this, they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?”
38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
- Why does Peter say that this crowd of Jewish people listening to his teaching are the ones who crucified Jesus?
- Why does Peter blame them and not the Romans?
- Why did they respond with “what should we do?” instead of, “we didn’t do that?”
- How does someone repent from crucifying Jesus?
- Why does Peter put repentance and baptism together?
- What was your story of repentance and baptism?
- What is encouraging about this passage?
1 Corinthians 15:1-5
1 Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it. 2 It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you—unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place.
3 I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. 4 He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. 5 He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve.
- What is Paul pointing out about how people’s lives should look after repenting and being baptized?
- Why is repentance and baptism not the end, but the beginning?
- What are some ways you can stand firm in the Good News of Jesus?
- How do you do those things each day?
- Based on this passage, what are the essential beliefs of someone who is a follower of Jesus?
- Why are these things difficult for some people to believe?
- What are some ways you know these things to be true?
Discipleship Questions

Memorize it!
1 Corinthians 15:3b-4
Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. 4 He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.
Prayer TACOS
Thanksgiving: How did you find out that Jesus loved you? Spend some time thanking Him for the people and circumstances that led you to follow Him.
Amazement: Jesus created a way for us to be forgiven of our sins and be restored to a right relationship with God through adoption into His family. Spend time worshiping the Lord for doing that.
Confession: Have you gotten hung up with arguments about things that actually detract from the Good News and may turn people against the things of God? Confess those things and ask the Lord to forgive you. Also ask for wisdom on how to study and learn about Him without it causing division amongst others who may not hold the same beliefs.
Others: Who is struggling this week? Ask the Lord for opportunities to talk to them and share His love with them.
Self: Repent and be baptized. Have you done this? Does your life line up with those claims? Ask the Lord to show you next steps you can take to grow closer to Him.
