Opening Discussion

  • What are some things that come to mind when you hear someone say they are living the good life?
  • What is the good life that Jesus has for us now?

Read and Discuss

Galatians 3:1-10

1 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified. 2 Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? 3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?

4 Did you suffer so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain? 5 Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith— 6 just as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”?

7 You know, then, that those who have faith, these are Abraham’s sons. 8 Now the Scripture saw in advance that God would justify the Gentiles by faith and proclaimed the gospel ahead of time to Abraham, saying, All the nations will be blessed through you. 9 Consequently, those who have faith are blessed with Abraham, who had faith. 10 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, because it is written, Everyone who does not do everything written in the book of the law is cursed.

  • Abraham believed God. What is the difference between believing God and believing in God?
  • What are some characteristics of Abraham’s faith that Paul says are valuable for all followers of Jesus?
  • What are some ways you show you believe God with the way you live your life?
  • What are some areas where it is difficult to trust God?
    • What steps can you take this week to trust Him in those areas?

Genesis 12:1-4

1 The Lord said to Abram: Go from your land, your relatives, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. 2 I will make you into a great nation, I will bless you, I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, I will curse anyone who treats you with contempt, and all the peoples on earth will be blessed through you. 4 So Abram went, as the Lord had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.

  • Why did the Lord ask Abraham to give up those things to go to the new place He was leading him?
  • When the Lord asks us to step into something new, why are there things He asks us to leave behind?
  • What is something you are hanging on to right now that the Lord is asking you to leave behind?
  • If we want to live the good life that Jesus has for us, what should our mindset be when we have to give up something to take those steps forward?

Discipleship Questions

  • Who is someone you are praying for that doesn’t know Jesus yet?
  • What are some ways you moved forward in your faith this week?
  • What are some things you need to trust God with more this week?

Memorize it!

Genesis 12:2

I will make you into a great nation, I will bless you, I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.

Prayer TACOS!

Thanksgiving-  How has the Lord shown His faithfulness to you this week? Spend some time thanking Him for that.

Adoration- The Lord is faithful even when we are faithless. Spend some time worshipping Him for that.

Confess- What was something you did that showed a lack of faith in Jesus? Maybe it was doing something you knew you shouldn’t do. Maybe it was trusting in your own good deeds instead of His death on the cross. Whatever it was, confess that to Him and ask for forgiveness.

Others- Who is someone that is living for themselves right now even though they know the way they should live? Pray that you will have an opportunity to discuss with them the full life that Jesus has in store for them.

Self- Ask the Lord to increase your faith this week.
