- Why would it have been odd for Jesus to give a new commandment?
- Who had the authority to give commandments to the Israelites?
- How was loving one another a new commandment?
- What are some ways Jesus loved His disciples?

John 13:3-5, 13-15
3 Jesus knew that the Father had given everything into his hands, that he had come from God, and that he was going back to God. 4 So he got up from supper, laid aside his outer clothing, took a towel, and tied it around himself. 5 Next, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet and to dry them with the towel tied around him.
13 You call me Teacher and Lord—and you are speaking rightly, since that is what I am. 14 So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.15 For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done for you.
- Washing feet was one of the lowest tasks a servant had to perform. Why would Jesus do this for His disciples?

Prayer TACOS
Thanksgiving: How has the Lord shown you love? Thank Him for loving you through every part of your life.
Amazement: The God of the Universe became a man, and used His humanity to serve others. That deserves some worship!
Confession: What is something you did this week that was unloving? Ask for forgiveness and an opportunity to make amends with the person you wronged.
Others: How can you serve others this week? Is there a particular person that comes to mind that you can show love to by serving them? Pray that the Lord would give you opportunities to show love to someone this week through service.
Self: Do you allow the Lord to serve you or do you always try to earn His love? Ask the Lord how you can serve Him this week, but also ask the Lord to give you the humility to be served as well.
