Opening Discussion
- What are some good memories for you surrounding Thanksgiving?
Read and Discuss
Acts 2:36-39
36 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know with certainty that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”
37 When they heard this, they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?”
38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
- Why did the Israelites respond with broken hearts instead of anger at being told they had crucified the Messiah?
- Why does Peter tell the Israelites not only to repent, but to be baptized as well?
- Why is baptism an important part of following Jesus?
- When did you realize the weight of sin in your own life?
- What did you do as a result?
- Why do some people who say they follow Jesus choose not to get baptized?
- What would you say to them?
1 Corinthians 15:1-7
Now I want to make clear for you, brothers and sisters, the gospel I preached to you, which you received, on which you have taken your stand 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold to the message I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I passed on to you as most important what I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the Twelve. 6 Then he appeared to over five hundred brothers and sisters at one time; most of them are still alive, but some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.
- Paul lays out evidence for Jesus’ resurrection. Why would this have been important to the Corinthians?
- Why do some people not believe in the resurrection of Jesus?
- Why did Jesus appear to five hundred people, and not just the disciples?
- How does knowing there were many eyewitness accounts give credibility to the resurrection of Jesus?
- Twice in this passage Paul uses the phrase “according to the Scriptures.” How does this further the evidence for the truth of the resurrection?
- Why is it important to know what the scriptures say about Jesus?
- What are some reasons people give for doubting the resurrection of Jesus?
- What would you say to them?
Discipleship Questions
- Have you been baptized?
- Why or why not?
- What are some ways you can strengthen your faith this week?
- What can you do this week to learn more about Jesus through reading the Bible?

Prayer TACOS
Thanksgiving: How has God provided for you this week? Thank Him for always providing what you need.
Amazement: Jesus came back to life and defeated sin and death. Praise God for that.
Confession: What was something you did this that you need to repent from? Spend some time confessing that to the Lord and thanking Him for His forgiveness.
Others: Who helped you understand your need for repentance? Pray for them that the Lord would continue to use them to help others find Jesus.
Self: What are some doubts you have about faith, God, Jesus, or the Bible? Ask the Lord to help you seek out answers for those things, and to put people in your life you can have conversations with.
