Opening Discussion
- If you could have a prop from any movie what would it be, how would you use/display it, and how would you convince people it was the real deal?

Galatians 1:1-5
1 Paul, an apostle—not from men or by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised him from the dead—2 and all the brothers who are with me:
To the churches of Galatia.
3 Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father. 5 To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
- Paul describes the time in which he lives as “this present evil age.” How would you describe the time in which we live?
- How can we live for Christ in our current culture?
- Grace and peace are words commonly heard in the church. How would you describe grace and peace?
- How does the grace and peace that Jesus gives differ from the grace and peace that the world offers?
Galatians 1:13-17
13 For you have heard about my former way of life in Judaism: I intensely persecuted God’s church and tried to destroy it. 14 I advanced in Judaism beyond many contemporaries among my people, because I was extremely zealous for the traditions of my ancestors. 15 But when God, who from my mother’s womb set me apart and called me by his grace, was pleased 16 to reveal his Son in me, so that I could preach him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately consult with anyone. 17 I did not go up to Jerusalem to those who had become apostles before me; instead I went to Arabia and came back to Damascus.
- What was Paul’s life like before he met Jesus?
- What was your life like before you met Jesus?
- What were some inward changes that happened in your life as a result of giving your life to Christ?
Galatians 3:27-29
27 For those of you who were baptized into Christ have been clothed with Christ. 28 There is no Jew or Greek, slave or free, male and female; since you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, heirs according to the promise.
- What does it mean to be clothed with Christ?
- Why would Paul’s statement, “There is no Jew or Greek, slave or free, male and female; since you are all one in Christ Jesus,” have been such a scandalous statement?
- What does your life look like now that you’ve been clothed with Christ through baptism?
- If you haven’t been baptized, what are some things that hold you back from that?
